Work Experience 2012-13

Work experienceAt Riverside Animal Centre, we are able to offer work experience placements in our PET UNIT on a year round basis, for up to two students at any one time. We no longer offer any dedicated work experience placements in our WILDLIFE UNIT, although our application form does allow prospective candidates to select a preference to assist in the WILDLIFE UNIT, subject to our requirements. However, please note that even during peak season, time in the WILDLIFE UNIT is unlikely to exceed 30% of the overall placement, and if this is your main area of interest then we would recommend you to seek a placement elsewhere.

Work experience is available to those studying at Further or Higher education levels as well as for those applying from Secondary Schools, subject to a minimum age requirement of 14 years. We are always oversubscribed and recommend early application to avoid disappointment. We regret that we cannot offer placements for those not applying as part of a recognized academic course and we do not offer internships for overseas veterinary surgeon or nursing students

Fancy joining us for work experience at the Riverside ANimal Centre?ALL work experience placements are for a minimum TWO week period, to run Monday to Friday on consecutive weeks. We cannot accommodate students requiring placements on one or two days a week over several months. Applications from students of all ages must be made on one of our application forms, which can be downloaded by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page, Completed forms may be sent into us by post, delivered by hand or scanned and returned to us via email in the form of an attachment saved as a PDF file. The application form also incorporates a Work Experience Information Sheet, which you should print out, read thoroughly and retain for future information.

The email address for returning completed application forms is riversideadminmanager@btconnect.com

The postal/hand delivery address for returning completed application forms is Riverside Animal Centre, Beddington Park, Church Road, Wallington, SM6 7NN.

Please ensure that you fill in all the details requested on the form, including the dates your require. Upon receipt, we will contact you to arrange an interview and a brief tour of the facility, after which you will be notified as to whether you have been successful or not within 10 working days.

NB: Please note confirmation of interview does not guarantee your placement.
