Arrive 10.15am

Welcome talk
Seats in circle. What is ALIVE / NOT ALIVE

ALIVE: Pot Plant + Tank with Snails & slugs.
Children can hold snail and talk about breathing, eating etc.

NOT ALIVE: Keys, toy owl, book, cup.

Explain what we were going to do and make during the morning.

Give out bark rubbing equip and magnifiers.


SEE THAT’ walk to the Woodland via the Stock pond
Assisted by Teachers and assistants children talk about what we can see and hear.

At the Stock pond :- SAFETY FIRST talk. Feed ducks wholemeal bread, explain about helping ducks. Talk about why ducks live here

At the woodland
Each group to have a go at mini-beast hunting talking about the little animals they find. Using magnifying glasses.

Walking back - Gather items on scavenger list and answer the questions.

Back at Centre 11.30 – Wash hands

Collage picture. Show example, children to make own picture of nature using their gathered treasures

Story or Talk. If any spare time children can choose a story or look at and talk about the stuffed animals.

Children talk briefly about things they have learnt and seen today.

Farewell 12.20 or lunch and tour of hospital.
