Our Ecology Service, based at our Beddington Park facility, offers structured educational opportunities to children studying between Foundation and KS3 levels. Our enthusiastic education officer has a wealth of experience and has been highly praised for delivering lessons which pupils find engaging, stimulating and fun!

girl and rabbitWorking closely in conjunction with teachers, we can tailor sessions around topics including Lifecycles, Foodchains, and Habitats (Woodland/Grassland/ Ponds) including Comparisons, or focus on specific areas such as soil analysis, trees and plants etc. Follow this link for a sample lesson itinerary.

Our field work takes place within the beautiful, varied and safe surroundings of the park, whilst indoor space is available in our barn for investigative and follow up work, as well as for refreshments and play. We are also able to build time into lessons for groups to tour the outside section of the wildlife hospital, which comprises various pens and enclosures. Here you can meet foxes, our resident owl and many other animals and learn how mans impact upon the environment causes them to require rescue and care. This, we feel offers a unique slant upon the topic and serves to enrich the overall experience for your students.

A simple visit to the hospital can also be arranged, which may fulfil both science and citizenship curricular requirements. This latter option is also very suitable for groups such as cubs and beavers whose leaders are looking for activities to enrich young minds, which may also lead to the completion of badges and other awards.
